Desert Mountain Area Communities

The combination of high rugged mountains, prominent ridges, and deep, lushly vegetated washes create a dominant desert setting for the area. Across much of the area the view-shed includes mountains 50 to 100 miles away. The Desert Mountain master planned development, one of the largest in the city, has set distinctive design styles and patterns for much of the area. The bulk of neighborhoods in the area are gated and arranged in unconnected sub-units. The buildings embody strong southwest (either Pueblo or Ranch) style formats with distinctive contemporary interpretations. Rough stucco, stonework, heavy rough hewn timbers, deeply inset windows and overhangs, metal roofs, and outdoor artwork combine to create a unique setting for the built environment. Landscaping is predominantly native materials that blend into the Upper Sonoran setting. There are many villages in Desert Mountain, each with it's own distinction. Miirabel Club

Mirabel is a Discovery Land development, situated on 713 acres of pristine desert land at an elevation of nearly 3,000 feet. Mirabel residents enjoy the beauty and pure air of the desert set against panoramic views of majestic mountains, like Pinnacle Peak, Lone Mountain, Black Mountain, the McDowell Mountains, glowing sunsets and the sparkling lights of the valley. Tom Fazio designed golf course offers challenging golf and spectacular views from every hole.

In addition to custom homes, Mirabel includes El Corazon - 35 beautifully designed single-family homes in the heart of the community. Three and four bedroom floorplans ranging in size from 3,100 to 3,900 sqft. Each features a courtyard, very nicely finished. Access to the Desert Lodge Clubhouse, tennis courts, pool/spa, and fitness center.

Whisper Rock

Whisper Rock Estates is a newer exclusive guard-gated golf community on 850-acres in North Scottsdale which offers large custom home sites, ranging from one to five acres. Homesite have lush desert vegetation and superb 360-degree views of the McDowell’s, Pinnacle Peak, Black Mountain, Tonto National Forest.
Whisper Rock Golf Club strives to provide players with the finest golf experience possible. Whisper Rock's membership is limited to 580 golf memberships for the 36-hole facility. Whisper Rock's club is focussed on golf rather than other amenities, though amenities do include walking paths, library, 3 acre park, fitness center, 24-hour guard-gated access, and conceirge services including dry cleaning and grocery arrangements.

Mirabel Village

Mirabel Village has an elevation of nearly 3,000 feet. Mirabel residents enjoy the beauty and pure air of the desert set against panoramic views of majestic mountains, like Pinnacle Peak, Lone Mountain, Black Mountain, the McDowell Mountains, glowing sunsets and the sparkling lights of the valley.

There are different communities within Mirabel Village that were built on land originally designated to Mirabel Club.

• Monterey at Mirabel, built by Meritage Homes. Monterey at Mirabel has three different phases between Cave Creek Road and Stagecoach Pass in North Scottsdale. It is located just east of Mirabel Club.
• Bel Canto by Cachet Development is located just south of Cave Creek Road and east of Pima in North Scottsdale. It is located west of Mirabel Club.
• Mirabel Village 16 by Amberwood Homes is off of Cave Creek Road and is also west of Mirabel Club and goes south of Bel Canto.

Mirabel Club is adjacent to all of the communities in Mirabel Village. Mirabel Club boasts a Tom Fazio designed golf course & offers challenging golf and spectacular views from every hole. Mirabel Club offers golf club and social memberships to non-residents, making it very convenient for homeowners in Mirabel Village to enjoy Mirabel Club facilities.

I

Cresta Norte, Sierra Norta & Treviso

All three of these quiet, gated communities were built by Toll Brothers and are located in the hIgh Sonoran desert between Cave Creek Road and Stagecoach Pass. They all enjoy cooler temperatures, clear skys and are surrounded by mountain and city light views.

Cresta Norte was Toll Brother's first gated community built in the high Sonoran Desert across from Desert Mountain. It was mostly built out before Mirabel Club started to build homes. These semi-custom homes are all single storoy amd are on large lots. Many of the homes enjoy beautiful mountain and city light views.

Sierra Norte was built just when Cresta Norte was well on it's way to being built out. It is a very similar community except for the addition of two-story homes.

Treviso is the last comunity that Toll Brother built in this area. It is a community that is just north of Stagecoach Pass off of Lone Mountain Parkway. The subdivision has two parts, one on the east and one on the west side of Lone Mountain Parkway.

The Boulders

The Boulders is an undeniably unique sense of place and provides a luxurious natural refuge immersed within two Jay Morrish championship golf courses. Extradinary landscape with thrilling boulder out-croppings and knobs. It offers the unsurpased beauty of the Sonoran Desert situated inside of North Scottsdale and Carefree. The Boulders development is part of one the the oldest master planned developments in the area.

Terravita

Terravita is one of Scottsdale, Arizona’s premier real estate developments.Terravita is a gated mater-planned community of 823 acres in North Scottsdale. The community includes a wide range of homes with great floor plans suitable for everyone from larger families to couples looking for a part time or retirement residence. Amenities include a 18 hole championship golf course, clubhouse facilities with dining, a swim and tennis center, a health and fitness center and a community wide 6 mile long system of jogging and walking trails.

Terravita golf and the Terravita Golf & Country Club are of great interest to many buyers. The golf course at Terravita was created by PGA Hall of Fame member Billy Casper and designer Greg Nash, whose name is synonymous with beautiful, playable golf courses that provide fun, fair challenges to players of all abilities while blending seamlessly with their natural surroundings. The Terravita golf course is an excellent example of Greg’s design skills. Terravita Country Club amenities include a pro shop, a large driving range, and three separate areas to practice chipping and putting.

Winfield

Winfield is a 300-acres gated community on Scottsdale Road, south of Carefree Highway, and nestled between Whisper Rock and The Boulders. Named for the founder of Scottsdale, Winfield Scott, the guard-gated community offers the best of both Scottsdale and Carefree. The 75-acre Winfield Mountain Preserve ensures residents will enjoy the natural beauty of arroyos, desert trees, majestic saguaro cacti and other desert vegetation or the High Sonoran Desert. Most homes enjoy views of nearby Black Mountain and city lights.

The Clubhouse at Winfield is approximately 13,500 square feet, with facilities and many activities for their residents to enjoy, including: 8 tennis courts (2 clay), heated Olympic-sized pool and spa, men's and women's locker room, sauna, fitness center, aerobics, and 8 miles of hiking trails.   Also enjoy the Standing Rock Café.

Legend Trail

Legend Trail golf community has custom, semi custom, production homes and a new condominium community. One of the most special amenities at Legend Trail is the Legend Trail Golf Club, which boasts a par 72 championship 18-hole golf course. Players visiting Scottsdale's Legend Trail will enounter a golf facility created to provide a fair and enjoyable experience for the average and beginning golfer, het also capable of persenting a formidable test for the game's more accomplished players The public golf course designed by Rees Jones, follows the natural topography of the high Sonoran desert of North Scottsdale. 

Fifby percent of the 640 acres are devoted to open space, so residents experience an oasis of beauty and luxurious living. The Legend Trail Recreation Center is a 10,000 square foot facility featuring a state of the art fitness center, two lighted tennis courts, two heated swimming pools, a pool side Jacuzzi, Kitchen and bar-b-que area, a living room, card room and a large room you can reserve for private parties. There are many biking and walking trails in Legend Trail.

Legend Trail is set at an elevation of 3,000 feet above sea level and enjoys spectacular views of both the ancient spires of Pinnacle Peak, the McDowell Mountains, Camelback, Mummy Mountain and the entire valley far below, plus one of its many fine features is an ambient-air temperature noticeably cooler than "down in the city".

Las Piedras

Las Piedras at Sevano Village, by Columbia Communities, is a gated community of 64 luxury single-family homes with spectacular rock outcroppings adjacent to the community. Close to both world-class dining and shopping of North Scottsdale and the beauty of the high Sonoran Desert.

Bellasera

Bellasera is a guard gated community of 360 homeowners and is situated on 290 acres. Approximately 40% of its land is protected unspoiled desert. This Del Webb community development in north Scottsdale features a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse offering a health and fitness center with separate men and women steam rooms. There are also three lighted tennis courts, a lighted basketball court, a swimming pool, spa, and approximately 8 miles of jogging and walking trails.

In Portuguese, the words "bella" and "sera" come together to create "summit of beauty."

Sincuidados

Sincuidados is a guard gated luxury home community with tennis courts and clubhouse, private streets, with 24 hour roaming security. Many cul-de-sacs throughout. Square footage ranges from 2900 to 7000, with all homes in the community of Santa Fe or territorial style architecture.

Spectacular views of Lone Mountain and the indescribable high Sonoran Desert beauty surrounds the community on every side. Resident and philanthropher H.B. Wallace donated 40 acres of mountain land tothe Mountain Preserve. Access to the trails is inside the gated community. Views of Pinnacle Peak, Troon and Lone Mountain. Lots average more than one acre. Over 70% of this unique community is dedicated to natural area open space (NAOS).

"Sincuidados" is Spanish for "without cares".

DC Ranch

DC Ranch Character Area includes the DC Ranch community with it's three Villages (Country Club Village, Desert Camp Village, and Desert Park Village) and Silverleaf.

Communities close-by  are Ironwood Village, Pima Acres, La Strada, Toscana, and Windgate Ranch subdivisions. Future development includes a major gateway for the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

These communities have easy access to the loop 101 freeway. Great shopping is available at Market Street in DC Ranch - offers many fine dining destinations and exquisite shopping boutiques.

Silverleaf

Silverleaf is tucked into the canyons of the McDowell Mountains and surrounded by the McDowell Sonoran Perserve.

This private gated neighborhood includes custom homesites and mountainside estates, featuring only 700 homes amoung 2,000 acres. Silverleaf is adjacent to the full array of DC Ranch community amenities including Desert Camp community recrecation complex, hiking and biking trails, the Market Street retail center, schools, and more. Convienient to downtown Scottsdale (20 minutes) and central Phoenix (35 minutes).

Grayhawk

Grayhawk, in North Scottsdale, features two distinct yet interconnected neighborhoods called The Park and The Retreat. They both offer a variety of prices, amenities and lifestyles.

There are many community features that give residents a wide range of activities. Parks include playgrounds, basketball courts, picnic areas and grassy play areas. There's also the Grayhawk Walk trail system, beautifully landscaped for jogging, biking, or just taking a stroll.

The Park at Grayhawk caters to family-oriented buyers.

The Retreat contains two world-class, 18-hole golf courses; the Grayhawk club house with superb casual dining; miles of trails for hiking, biking and jogging; peaceful open areas with barbecue pavilions; community tennis courts and swimming pools. All reserved for the private use of Retreat residents and their guests. Guard-gated neighborhoods offer residential choices ranging from luxurious single-family homes and spacious townhouses to spectacular custom home sites. Windgate Ranch

Windgate Ranch by Toll Brothers is a newer development just south of DC Ranch , and north of McDowell Mountain Ranch. This is a gated community of luxury north Scottsdale homes. Nestled in the foothills of the magnificent McDowell Mountains, it's a spectacular community in the High Sonoran Desert. Located close to McDowell Mountains and preserve hiking trails into the Sonoran Desert.   This master plan community includes : 10,000-square-foot clubhouse ; Inviting outdoor living areas; Three swimming pools; Two relaxing hot tubs; High-tech teen pavilion; and Basketball court.

Pinnacle Peak Area

The area has some of the best "valley" views and is highly influenced by the presence of the McDowell Mountains and other mountains such as Pinnacle Peak and Troon. The area is dominated by low density, custom single family homes located in small to medium sized subdivisions.

Roughly two-thirds of these subdivisions have public streets and no perimeter walls, while the remaining one-third are gated and have perimeter walls. The most dominant landmark within the area is the cluster of businesses at the intersection of Pinnacle Peak and Pima Roads.

Around half of the non-residential uses and most of the single family homes have a "Mediterranean/Mission" design character, while most other single family homes tend to be "Santa Fe/Pueblo" in style. Those neighborhoods that existed before the area was annexed into the city tend to have Eucalyptus, Pine and Olive trees, while later neighborhoods typically have native and desert landscaping.

Canyon Heights, Lost Canyon, Prado Estate & The Peak

These luxury gated communities are located in the 85255 Zip Code area of North Scottsdale just off of Pinnacle Peak Road and east of Pima Road. The homes in these subdivisions are on estate size lots  up to 10+ acres surrounded by exquisite mountain views.

Desert HIghlands

Desert Highlands is an 850 acre residential golf community in North Scottsdale. Desert Highlands is located on the south slope of Pinnacle Peak, one of the area's prominent natural landmarks. Golf membership comes with home ownership and stays with the land. Current membership fee is $75,000. Members enjoy more than just fine golf in a beautiful lush Sonoran Desert setting. There's jogging and walking trails, and tennis facilities throughout the community. Enjoy the 18 hole putting course, 7000 square foot fitness center, and award winning clubhouse.

Troon North

Troon North is an 1,800-acre master-planned community in prestigious North Scottsdale. Located along Dynamite Boulevard, east of Pima Road, in the foothills north of Pinnacle Peak Mountain. This community enjoys a dymanic desert landscape - undulating geography, amoungst hugh granite boulders, lush desert arroyos, and stands of ancient saguaros. Residential Subdivisions are designed around two championship golf courses by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish.

Troon North is considered one of Arizona's finest golf communities. Membership to this semi-private club is available to property owners only. Guests of the Four Seasons Resort have playing privileges at Troon North. Public play will be eventually eliminated/reduced. Call for more information about the 2 types of membership.

Development began in 1989 and continues today. Custom lots are still available. Types of property include condominiums, townhomes, production homes, semi-custom home, and custom estate. All but a few subdividions are gated. Most homes have mountain and/or city light views.

Troon Village

Troon Village is a 1,400-acre residential master-planned golf community located in north Scottsdale surrounding Troon Mountain. Troon Village has a wonderful assortment of residential choices from townhomes to semi-custom and custom spec homes, as well as residential homesites.

Troon Village is home to Troon Country Club, one of Arizona' s top-rated golf clubs. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and featuring a luxurious 50,000+ square foot clubhouse. Named for the famed Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland where, in 1973, Tom Weiskopf won the British Open. Troon Country Club offers social and golf memberships on an application and availability basis.

Estancia

Estancia is a gated custom home golf course community north of Pinnacle Peak mountain.   267 homesites on 640 acres (low-density). Golf Digest named Estancia the "Best New Private Course" in 1996.   It was honored by Golf Magazine among the "100 Greatest Courses in the U.S." and as one of the "100 Greatest Courses In The World." Homes range from 3286 to 8906 square feet, on half to 2.3 acres.

Ironwood Village - Pima Acres - La Strada - Toccana

Ironwood Village homes by UDC Homes range from 1300 to 3200 square feet.

Pima Acres offers custom homes on larg lots (1.5 + acres). Views of McDowell mountains and natural open space. Located close to shopping, 101 freeway and the Scottsdale Airport.

La Strada is a gated community of large custom homes by Monterey Homes with mountain and city views.

Toscana is a gated community of 24 luxury homes. Homes range from 3614 to 5000 square feet. These homes have views of the McDowell mountains and easy access to the 101 freeway.

Gainey Ranch

Gainey Ranch is a jewell of a community that is  close-in to world class Scottsdale shopping and Paradise Valley. Gainey Ranch is a mixed-use community compromised of residential, commercial office buildings, a private golf course and the luxury Gainey Ranch Hyatt Hotel. The residential portion of Gainey Ranch occupies approximately 264 acres. The Gainey Ranch master planned community also includes an award winning 27 hole private golf course that only members and their guests and hotel guests can use.. Real estate includes tennis villas, single family homes, townhomes and condominiums.

Within Gainey Ranch there are 7 condominium communities and 11 communities dedicated to single family dwellings. There is waterfront property in Gainey Ranch at The Estates,The Pavillions, Lakeview, 8989 Gainey Center, Arroyo Vista and Sunset Cove.
